14th April: Ambedkar jayanthi

Ambedkar jayanthi is celebrated on 14th April every year. Dr. Ambedkar was born on 14th April, 1891. It is a public holiday in all of the Indian states. 

In addition to being a jurist, philanthropist, historian etc., he is also widely known for his active role as the Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee of India. You can find more information on Dr. Ambedkar here.

2nd April: International Children's Book Day

International Children's Book Day is a yearly event sponsored by the International Board on Books for Young People. This day was first observed in the year 1967. International Children’s book day is observed on or around Hans Christian Andersen's birthday, April 2nd. Many events are held on this occasion.
