Lithuania's first Hologram stamp

Lithuania issued its first hologram stamp on 9th October 1998 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Lithuania's first stamp.

On February 16, 1918, Lithuania declared its independence from Russia.  The Lithuanian postal administration was founded on Nov. 16 of that year and the first stamp was issued on 27th December 1918.

Lithuania's first hologram stamp features "The Post Horn" emblem, emblem of Lithuania's postal administration.  H. Ratkevicius, is the designer of the stamp and his name appeares at the bottom of the stamp.  The border area is covered with peace dove carrying a letter and the 80th anniversary inscription.

Nice addition to my Odd and Unusual stamps collection.

27th September : World Tourism Day

Tourism is one of the major determinant of a country's economy and development. Over the past few decades, tourism has been expanding rapidly due to a variety of factors, like advancement in Technology, boom in economy etc. Tourism has many sub categories under it for example, eco-tourism, educational tourism, sustainable tourism, religious tourism, medical tourism etc.

The United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) on 15th September 2017 at their 22nd UNWTO conference took a major step to improving sustainable tourism by declaring 27th September as World Tourism day and 2017 as International Year of Sustainable tourism for development.

Sustainable development means development of the present without compromising the needs of the future generations.

Children's Day - Thailand

Thailand celebrates its children's day(Wan dek) on second Saturday in the month of January since 1955.  It is celebrated to create awareness about children's roles and responsibilities in the future of the country.

Each year it is celebrated with unique theme and slogan.

On this day, His majesty and Prime minister deliver speeches to the children of  Thailand.

On this day, children are allowed to visit, Government offices, Parliament, Military offices and other private and public institutions.  Almost all fun activities in amusement parks, game zones are free for the children on this day.

In 2013 Thailand  commemorated this event with a long sized stamp with cartoon characters wearing the 10 Asean countries (Brunei, cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam) national costume.

I am very thankful to Pinthip for sending this stamp on card.
