Austria's First Wood Stamp

Oak Wood Stamp - Austria

Austria known for issuing unusual out-of-the-box stamps, has issued one more interesting stamp - Austria’s first (Oak) wood stamp.  To commemorate the 20^th Anniversary of Austrian Federal Forestry office, Austria post issued an Oak tree shaped stamp out of real Oak wood.  To make the Oak stamp memorable it was made from the oak tree branch belonging to the Federal Forestry office territory.  Usually the Oak trees grow up to 40 meters and live up to 1000 years.  This particular oak tree is 210 years old and 30 meters high.  There is always a risk of chipping, splitting while smoothing the uneven surface of the wood and cutting, they have used the Laser technique to cut out the Oak shape from a roundwood.  Each and every oak wood stamp is unique in its own way.

Meteorite dust on stamp: Austria

In 2006 Austria Post has Issued a stamp with Meteorite dust.  The dust came from a 19 kg stony meteorite found in Morocco in 2004.  The meteorite was crushed into very fine dust and 0.03gms of that dust was hand affixed to the stamp using a special adhesive.  I am very thankful to Mr.Sudhan for this unique material on the stamp.  Nice addition to my Odd and Unusual stamp collection.

World's first Porcelain stamp : Austria

Austria Post has issued World's First Porcelain stamp on 20th March 2014. The Viennese rose stamps were designed by the Vienna Porcelain Manufacturer Augarten (Wiener Porzellanmanufaktur Augarten), Europe's second porcelain manufacturer and they are claiming that it is unbreakable.  

I am very thankful to Sudhan for this Odd and unique stamp.  Nice addition to my Odd and Unusual stamps collection. 

World's first self adhesive glass stamp : Austria

Another special stamp by the Vienna Porcelain Manufacturer Augarten, World's first self adhesive Glass stamp.  Earlier Augarten designed and manufactured the world's first porcelain stamp.  The glass stamp was issued by Austria post on 10th June 2016.  This stamp portrays Virgin Mary weeping over the dead body of her crucified son, Jesus by using reverse painting technique.

World’s first embroidered silhouette stamp : Austria

The world's first embroidered silhouette stamp was issued by Austria Post on 22nd September 2016.

The above stamp depicts the dirndl gown.  It is a traditional outfit for women and girls in some parts of Austria and Germany.  It also features traditional colours and patterns specific to the region.    Each stamp is made from approximately 130 feet of thread in 3 colours: Red, Green, and White.

The stamp is unique because it captures the shape of the dress itself.
