Centenary of discovery of Insulin - Brazil's 1st 2D barcode stamp

For the centenary of the discovery of Insulin, the Brazilian post has issued a stamp on 27th July 2021. This is the first Brazilian postage stamp with a 2D barcode Each stamp has an alphanumeric code, comprised of five letters and four numbers, sequentially generated. Mine is "AAABG7019".  It had a print run of 200,000 stamps. At the time of writing this, Brazil issued another QR code stamp on 8th October for the 100th anniversary of the birth of Oscar Dias Correa.

No Face Value was mentioned on the stamp, but it is meant for 1st class rate for domestic mail and sold at Brazilian Real 2.05 on the day of issue.  Perforation is also special like a few other recent stamps, it was cut to shape with “BR” on both sides.  The Postcrossing stamp also has the BR perforation at the top and at the bottom.

Nice addition to my Odd and Unusual stamp collection.

Oratory Shape/UV Varnish

2018 Christmas issue - 6th December 2018
(details taken from net)

The souvenir sheet with two stamps was cut with special knife, in the format of oratory, in reference to the Silent Night Chapel, of Oberndorf, Austria, where the song "Stille Nacht" was composed. On the side flaps, the lyrics of the famous song, left in the original language, in German, and on the right hand flap, in Portuguese, both printed with special ink in yellow. On the central flap.  On the first stamp, the image of the composers was covered with localized varnish, and the sepia score advances beyond the limits of the stamp perforation. On the second stamp, the varnish covers the image of the Chapel. On both stamps, the titles, the word "Brazil" and the facial values, were printed with chalcographic ink. The starry sky of the second stamp was expanded to the whole block, painted with UV paint. On the left side, a stained glass window displays the figure of Father Mohr, and below the town of Oberndorf. On the right side the stained glass window brings the image of the instrumentalist Franz Gruber on the representation of his village, Arnsdorf. On the lower sides of the stained-glass windows, golden arabesques with Christmas symbols were printed in hot-stamping. On the center, at the top, the eight-pointed star and the title of the issue, "Silent Night, 200 Years", written in Portuguese and German, were also printed in golden hot stamping, highlighting and ennobling the contrast with the night sky dotted with stars.

8 pointed star shape

The below self adhesive stamp depicts Father Mohr, who also appears writing the lyrics, and the musician Franz Gruber, in profile and playing guitar. On the background, in sepia, the score of the anthem. On the lower right corner, the title "Silent Night, 200 Years", in Portuguese and German

Below 8 pointed star stamp depicts, the Silent Night Chapel, located in Oberndorf-Austria, stands out in the landscape of a winter night, surrounded by Christmas symbols, lights and decorated pine trees, under a starry sky, where one of them stands out, reference to the night of December 24. On the left side, the lyrics of "Stille Nacht", in German. Above, on the center, the title "Silent Night, 200 Years", in German and Portuguese.

On both the above stamps, special gold ink was used, on the titles, on the word "Brazil", and on the postage stamps, located on the lower right corner.

Hologram Miniature Sheet - Brazil

"The Bienal de Sao Paulo" is the Brazilian contemporary art foundation for the promotion of Art. It was founded in the year 1951 by Italian-Brazilian industrialist Ciccillo Matarazzo and the first exhibition happened in the year 1957.  It is the second oldest art biennial in the world next to the Venice biennial, which started way back in 1895.  In 1989, the foundation celebrated its 20th exhibition, and to commemorate this Brazil post issued a Hologram Miniature sheet.  The first stamp portrays "Lemons" by Danilo Di Prete, 2nd is "The Indian Suacuapara" by Brecheret and the third one is Francisco Matarazzo.

The bottom half of the miniature sheet is a hologram one depicting the number "20" in between The Sao Paulo Biennial logo.

Hologram Stamp : Brazil

Fernando De Noronha is a collection of islands in the Atlantic Ocean off the Brazilian coast. The below miniature sheet depicts the tallest peak on the islands "Morro do Pico", while the main theme shows the dolphins. The vicinity of the islands are rich with marine life.

The sheet was issued on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the discovery of the "Fernando De Noronha" archipelago. The name comes from the Portuguese merchant who funded the expedition. The actual explorer who stayed there on the journey was none other than "Amerigo Vespucci", an Italian explorer who was part of the expedition. Yes, he is the same guy from whose first name the word "America" is derived.
