Warsaw Baghdad First Flight

Warsaw Baghdad First Flight

The Ilyushin IL-62 is a Soviet long-range narrow body jetliner conceived in 1960 by Ilyushin. As successor to the popular turboprop IL-18 and with capacity for almost 200 passengers. The IL-62 was the world's largest jet airliner when first flown in 1963. One of four pioneering long-range designs (the others being Boeing 707Douglas DC-8, and Vickers VC10) it was the first such type to be operated by the Soviet Union and a number of allied nations.

LOT Polish airlines, one of the oldest airlines started its first regular service from Warsaw to Bagdad on 16th December 1972 on this IL-62 air craft.  Below is the first flight flown cover on Warsaw - Bagdad route.

Air India, India's National carrier recently introduced a non stop flight from Coimbatore, the "Manchester of South India" to National capital New Delhi on 1st December of 2018.  To commemorate this, Coimbatore postal circle issued a First flight Cover.

Marudamalai Murugal temple - Coimbatore and India Gate - Delhi, two prominent attractions of the two cities are  depicted on the cover.

My very first FFC issued by India Post.  Nice addition to my "Evolution of flight" theme.

Evolution of Flight materials from US

Today I have received some awesome materials from my well wisher Danny Meng of USA, who introduced the Permanent Pictorial cancellation to me and encouraged me a lot.  Thanks a lot Danny.

The Shuttle and the shuttle carrier stamps will make my Special flights section of my theme Evolution of flights very interesting.

and the 787 first flight cover,  I am sure I can use it effectively in my exhibit as the flight has some interesting features like bending tail, fuel efficiency to tell.

I did not have any stamps from Sierra Leone earlier.  New country to my Evolution of Flight collection.

Last but not the least, thanks for the First day card.
Thanks again Danny.
